The XIV Protea Research Symposium and the XIX International Protea Association Conference will be held in the Canary Islands, Spain, from 24th to 29th March 2020, specifically in the islands of La Palma and Tenerife which natural beauty and incomparable climate make them the favorite destination for millions of tourists every year.

It is a pleasure to host it and be its Convener, and an honor to invite you to join this symposium in the Canaries and present your work and ideas to promote research and other activities related to PROTEAS cultivation.

The cultivation of proteas is the only one that has experienced a constant growth in the last 15 years in the Canary Islands within the subsector of cut-flower. This growth has been due to several important factors, among which we can highlight the period of flowering in the islands in the north hemisphere, the development of the crop and its varieties based on technical advice (own and foreign start and own in its latest development), and the height of the crop above sea level, in the case of a medium-sized crop where it has had no problems in finding available farmland in decay of traditional crops of the islands.

These international symposia will be an excellent opportunity to bring together researchers, academics, technicians, and other experts from public and private sectors involved in the field of Proteas cultivation.

This event will be composed by two different parts: first one will be held in La Palma where technical sessions on field will take place, there will be International Protea Association workshops too. And the second part will be the scientist one, it will be held in Tenerife with plenary sessions and poster display sessions, offering a high quality interesting program with renowned keynote speakers.
